Phoenix Wedding Photography – Lucas + Dana

In January, I got to travel out to Phoenix, AZ to shoot the wedding of Lucas and Dana. I lived in Phoenix a few years ago and I met Dana when she was in the youth group at the church I attended. She has grown into a beautiful young woman and met Lucas, and I was thrilled when she contacted me about photographing their wedding. I didn’t start my photography career until I moved out of Phoenix, so this was my first wedding there. I was thrilled to escape the gray and bitter winter in Nashville to travel to the sunny blue skies and warm weather in the desert, and to capture this sweet couples beautiful outdoor wedding.

I arrived at Val Vista Lakes resort while Dana was finishing getting ready and able to capture a few of her preparing for the day.

It was a GORGEOUS afternoon and the lawn behind the resort was a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. Dana and her father enjoyed a joyful moment right before he walked her down the aisle. The ceremony was so genuine, filled with family reading scriptures and Dana and Lucas sharing letters they had written to each other of the things they were promising to the other as a spouse.

The soft afternoon light was a photographers dream! Loved all these shots of the newlyweds and their bridal party.

The sun started setting right as the reception began and I took a shot of the beautiful desert sky! Man, I miss the winter sunsets in Arizona. I remember they were some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

Lucas and Dana shared a sweet first dance.

And then the rest of the reception was full of fun and dancing!

So excited for all the joy and blessings this couple will experience in their life together! Congratulations Lucas & Dana!
